Thing 6

It has been so long since I have blogged. Followers forgive me. Not making any promises but I will try harder to give information as well as receive it. I have enjoyed Google reader and thankful for RSS but really looking forward to working with wikis. Your comments really help me and I feel privileged to be associated with so many brilliant minds. "Old Dog" is learning some new tricks, keep up the good work. I have connected to RSS feed on Autism, it has a lot of personal documentaries from parents and how they deal with their autistic child. Good stuff!! My students are doing research through the eyes of an archeologist using physical evidence to create a story. I would love to post these to a wiki. Wish I had more time to explore this new world, maybe after ADE monitoring for GT.

Thing 5 RSS feeds

Obtaining feeds from our group was pretty easy. However trying to find feeds that will benefit me in the classroom is another story. How do I find information that I want fed to my reader that deals with gifted education, art, or autism?

Reflection on Chapter 3 class project

I was enlightened by how each group took a section of the book and presented their information in a unique way. Each one captured my attention and was very creative. I can see how students would be engaged by this activity. The oportunity for them to disscuss and reflect, what the have learned with their peers, will make lessons more meaningful to them. My hope is that I will be able to retain this information and put it into practice.

Book Club chapter 3

Commenting on "A Whole New Mind". Being an artist as well as a gifted educator,I was pleasently surprised to have someone comment on how art (creativity) effects all aspects of the buisness world. What I didn't know was that MFA's were harder to get than a law degree. As the buisness world changes so does education. Art (design) should be included across the curriculum. Let me know your thoughts??

Thing 4: Commenting on Blogspots

I Like the idea of networking with people, especially educators in my feild, but commenting on blogspots, make me feel intellectually exposed. However when someone comments on my blogspot I feel validated. It is important to connect with people and share information. Students get instant feedback,so this is a great avenue for them to learn and explore. How can I help them do this? I do not have an educational blog community in my field, but I am looking forward to getting one!!!

Thing 3: Widgets

Today I learned about Widgets. I added a subscription,"about me", and followers widgwets. I wanted to add feeding fish but this was blocked, probably a good thing this may have made my blog to busy, but it would have been fun!!!!!

Thing 1: Thoughts about Web 2.0

For me this is round two, year two for 21clc first year rookie. Web 2.o at first seemed overwhelming, even after starting it for the second time. I do see the importance of being a self educating cooperative learner. It is clear to me that inorder for me to educate my strudents, I myself must be at least profficient in the web tools that my students use on a daily basis. In this age of Collaberation, I look forward to sharing and collecting information with other educators around the world. Web 2.0 is a vital tool in preparing students for the global community.
